Lowering Taxes for Military and Hawaii Families, Creating Jobs
John will fight to lower the tax burden on Military and Hawaii families. Immediately upon taking office, he will offer a simple, one page piece of tax reform legislation called MAFTRA, the Military and American Family Tax Reform Act of 2011. MAFTRA will add an average of $4,700 to the take home pay of 40% of Hawaii families each year. This legislation will keep money in the hands of those who need it – the ones who earned it, and it won’t cost taxpayers one dime. MAFTRA will add tens of thousands of well paying jobs to Hawaii’s economy and turn the state’s and our nation’s economies around virtually overnight. He will fight against crippling Cap and Trade energy tax legislation and taxing employer provided health care and retirement benefits. He will fight efforts currently underway in Congress to eliminate the tax credits Hawaii families receive on their 401(k) and Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA’s). John will also voice Hawaii’s loud and clear objections to ridiculous and nonsensical taxes on fast food and leisure items such as soda pop, ice cream, snacks, cereals, and the charcoal we use for our backyard and beach barbecues.
