Improving Our Children's Education

John believes that every child deserves a high quality education. We have access to one of the greatest natural classrooms in the world – the Hawaiian Islands. When we lost the Hawaii SuperFerry, we lost what was perhaps the single greatest educational resource our students would have ever had -- the capability to transport entire classrooms of our kids to amazing and wondrous places right here in our own state. Now these places, which would have been within arm’s reach, will now continue to go unexplored by many of our children in their most impressionable years. Our elected and appointed officials have allowed special interests, political infighting, petty bickering, and “turf wars” to interfere with our children’s education. That can never be allowed to happen again. Despite the setback, John has a plan to put 6000 of our school age children and teachers on their neighbor islands every year. Putting our children’s education at the top of the priority list will ensure our school age children receive a quality education second to none on the mainland.
