John Willoughby for Congress

John on the Defense of Marriage Act

The Defense of Marriage Act, signed into law byPresident Bill Clinton in 1996, states that: "The federal governmentdefines marriage as a legal union exclusively between one man and onewoman." DOMA further prohibits States from being forced to recognizesame-sex marriages performed in other States.

H.R. 3567 is a bill that would repeal DOMA. Thatbill is co-sponsored by Hawaii Representative Mazie Hirono, formerRepresentative (and Gubernatorial Candidate) Neil Abercrombie and the CongressionalProgressive Caucus.

If elected toUnited States Congress, I will vote against repeal of DOMA. Period.
